Embroidery and me

My love for needles and thread began when I found out I was pregnant with my first son Daniel, as any mother, unknowingly, this was one of my nestings urges. so I watched many Youtube videos on how to and what material to use. and I bought the thread frame and fabric and I began drawing sketches. It was hard at the beginning but  I wanted to create something special for him, so I look up a circle wreath pattern changed the colors and some of the elements, and began.

Introducing

MOVIES & ART Inside the frame

Join me as I dive into the most interesting frames in movies I like.
What makes a frame such a strong one.
Let’s see…

MOVIES & ART Inside the frame

written by Maisa Halabi

Years ago just after recieving my degree, having so much free time after being under pressure for 4 years. i took this new free time and filled it with the things i’m passonite about, and one of it is movies, i started watching movies in bulks, every week it was a different theme; war, italian, sci-fi, animations, and more. I got carried away, but it was so much fun “binging”. But then I started thinking of what I could do with this information, all these stories, and images, it was a pity to forget, and there was so much to learn so I decided to do something, anything with it. so I created a folder named “Screens” and started collecting screenshots I thought were super interesting. I looked for an exciting composition, colors, and emotions!

La grande bellezza 2015

In this Italian movie, we are being taken on a journey with an aging writer through the nightlife of Rome. After his 65th birthday, he starts to look past the nightclubs and parties to find a landscape of exquisite beauty. This movie is filled with many interesting scenes and wonderfully constructed frames.  I picked this frame and I’ll try my best to explain why I found it interesting.

Color scheme

At first the colors looks muted yet they are in balance. I made a color palette from this frame. the colors are earthy and warm mirroring the writer’s longing feelings for his childhood memories. the overall feeling is calmness that is driven from the balance between the light and the dark in this frame.

Composition & Meaning

The frame is very balanced and the composition is centered and balanced the left side echoes the right side in vertical lines yet the straight and heavy pillars are echoed with trees in an organic soft and light shape. this frame composition remained me of Jacques-Louis David painting “Oath of the Horatii”. David achoed the shapes of the pillars with the men and the arch with the women.

Jacques-Louis David, “Oath of the Horatii”, 1786

I think this director manged in this composition to create something that is classic and balanced and in a way, he managed to transfer a feeling of yearning into past times. the child’s innocence is echoed in the Nun’s white clothes. his face is toward the light, the future, while the Nun is looking toward the dark, looking at what has passed.

And this for me what made this frame such an interesting one.

More frames

Here are more frames from my folder, what do you think? Can you think of an interesting frame that captured your eyes? What made it special? can’t wait to read your comments.
